Grandmother's Tips for Pumpkin Fluff:

1. As a dip this fluff recipe is great with graham crackers, nuts and apple slices.

2. To make your own canned pumpkin for this easy dessert, you will have to start by roasting the pumpkin. Wash the pumpkin, cut in half and remove the seeds to use for roasting later. Put the two pumpkin halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and roast the pumpkin at about 375 degrees until the pumpkin is soft. You can tell if the pumpkin is done by sticking a knife into one of the pumpkin halves.

3. Once the pumpkin halves are roasted, you can remove the pumpkin meat from the skin, making sure to get rid of any of the fibrous pieces you may find. Then put the roasted pumpkin into your food processor or blender, you can also use a food mill if you have one. Blend the roasted pumpkin until it is nice and smooth. It's that easy.

4. Use the roasted pumpkin for this easy dessert and freeze any leftovers to use later. You can freeze the roasted pumpkin in ziploc bags and use for future pie dessert recipes, soups, muffins and more.

2 cups whipped cream (Homemade Whipped Cream Recipe)

1/4 cup canned pumpkin , we used Farmers Market brand Organic non GMO

2 teaspoons pure Maple Syrup, or more to taste

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon ginger

pinch of salt

1 cup mini marshmallows, we used Dandies brand non GMO, natural ingredient brand

Directions

1. This recipe can be served individually in a dish or as a dip.

3. Mix the canned pumpkin, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt together into a bowl. Do a little taste test and if you want it sweeter, add a bit more maple syrup.

4. Fold in the whipped cream and then the marshmallows.

5. Serve in fun serving dishes, garnish with a marshmallow, apple slice, or a pecan nut.

A 2013 study strongly suggests that the maple syrup may have a lower glycemic index than sucrose, which may help in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.(1) A 2017 study suggested that dark-color maple syrup may inhibit cell proliferation through suppression of AKT activation and, thus, may be suitable as a phytomedicine for gastrointestinal cancer treatment.(2) When replacing the sugar in your dessert recipes, you want to make sure that you are using 100 percent pure maple syrup. You can substitute refined white sugars with maple syrup or maple sugar.

To replace white sugar with pure maple syrup in a dessert recipe, about 2/3 cups of pure maple syrup which is roughly equal to one cup of refined white sugar. When replacing refined white sugar with maple syrup, you will also need to reduce the liquids in the dessert recipe by about a quarter to a half. If in doubt you are best to follow a dessert recipe that already uses maple syrup in the recipe instructions, or you can experiment until you get it right.

Maple sugar is a great alternative to use in baked goods such as cake recipes, muffins, cupcakes, and pancakes. You will find that replacing the refined white sugar with maple sugar or maple syrup, it will give a fuller flavor which you may end up preferring. Once you have purchased and opened your pure maple syrup you want to store it in the fridge or the freezer. Glass bottles are the preferred way to store if you plan to store your maple syrup for two years or more, while plastic jugs will keep maple syrup fresh in the fridge for up to four months.
